Cabin Update

Steve and I went over to Bristol this weekend for a quick visit. Mom's birthday was 2/19 and we wanted to go see her and also check out our property and construction while we were over that way. We had a yummy lasagna dinner at my sister Jan's house Saturday night and my cousin Joan Kay, who bakes professionally, loaded us up with enough brownies and cupcakes to maintain a month-long sugar rush. We were in such a hurry to get over to Jan's that I forgot to bring my camera, so I missed snapping pics of my ultra-cute grand-nephews, Jacob and Alex. Alex, who is almost 9 months old, was enthralled with a big green laughing stuffed frog. I couldn't help thinking that my Boxer Kaeli would go nuts over that toy, too.

We drove from Bristol to Burnsville this morning. It was cold and misty/rainy, not really conducive to hanging out for a long time. The first floor logs are all up and the loft is almost complete. Here's a picture of the steps leading up to the loft.

This is Steve standing just inside our future half-bath. Our bedroom is to his right and the ladder is in our master bath.

This one is looking into our living room from the kitchen. The fireplace will be to the left of the opening for the french doors, kind of behind where that makeshift workbench is.

Here's a detail of the dovetail end joints.

We're pretty satisfied with the way things are looking so far and can't wait to see it again after the roof is on.
