Wow, lots of things finally falling into place. The firebox has been built and the rock has been moved upstairs awaiting the mason fairy. Our fireplace is huge! It takes up more space in the living area than we had envisioned. At first we were freaked out - where are we going to hang out and watch the tube? But then a new and exciting plan popped into my head, and now I'm really energized about it. Vertical living! Think up! We have 500 s.f. of loft that we were going to use mainly as a reading/spare bedroom area. Why under-utilize that much space when we could just shift the TV area upstairs? It's fully wired up there, you can still see the fireplace, and there's plenty of room for hanging
and spare bedrooming in 2 separate groupings. Then the downstairs can be dining and reading/conversation. I think it will work out well.

Here's the view from the edge of the loft looking down.

The inside will be sealed this coming weekend. The radiant floor heat guys are scheduled to come tomorrow to hook up our boiler and water heater and finish the PEX under the main floor joists. They have coordinated with the gas people who will be delivering our tank at the same time. The mason should come this week and finish the fireplace, since all the rock is waiting. The kitchen appliances are to be delivered 8/16 and the cabinets a couple of weeks after that. The tile guy is due up in 3 weeks to finish the shower stall in the master bath. We're getting closer!

Our al fresco shower. Hey, at least we put the tarp away when we're not using the shower. We ain't that redneck.

Dude, exciting news about the progress. Too bad you've been unable to coax the mason fairy back out.
As for utliizing the loft for living space & TV viewing --- you can pretend that was your idea if you want, but you know I suggested that when we were there a couple weeks ago.
And yes, you're right - it's a great idea.
You're welcome.
Kudos to both Scott and Valerie for the split "entertainment/TV areas" idea! Wow - Val I believe you will not have a problem heating the cabin in the Winter with that size of a Fireplace! It does look like things are falling into place for you guys.
