Do you believe?

Since January, our builder has been filling our heads with tales of the mason fairy. This mythical figure supposedly comes to your house and does masonry work, like fireplaces. We've never actually spoken with or seen the mason fairy, but our builder swears he exists. For about 6 months now, we've been waiting and hoping that he would pay us a visit and deem our house worthy of a fireplace. We even promised our builder that we would buy a firebox and cultured stone from him, if only the mason fairy would visit.

When we had our floor tiled, we instructed our tile guy to leave a space in the floor for the mason fairy to build his magical fireplace. Dutifully, we placed OSB over the surrounding tile so he could stack and cut stone with abandon, and left 2 large windows open so any magic stone dust could escape into the surrounding forest. In preparation for his coming, we ordered a firebox and stone that we hoped would please him and hasten his arrival. Alas, months have gone by with no work date in sight, and our empty space in the tile mocks us each weekend.

Until this weekend, that is. Lo and behold, a pallet stacked high with firebox and flue parts was waiting by our basement when we drove up Saturday morning. Could it really be? Do we dare to believe that the mason fairy is real and a visit is imminent?

You shouldn't have made light -- now the Mason Fairy is punishing you for your insolence.

At least you're still in good with the Cool Ice King.

The place is great! The pictures don't do it justice. Thanks for having us dude!
