Cabin Update

Got the outside walls all stained and sealed. The color is called Natural Oak and we're pleased with it. We were afraid of picking something too red/orange, but I like this one.

Steve is almost finished with the walls. He would've finished this weekend, but ran out of finish nails Saturday afternoon. Next steps: trim work and rails for the stairs and loft. I like the look of wood and metal together for the rails and think we will go with that, instead of all wood.

We have some plumbing! We have a working sink and toilet in the half bath, but no hot water or shower yet. It was really nice this weekend not to have to hike to the port-o-let when nature called.

Our builder is supposedly working on getting the right door hardware for us. Here's a picture of the offending hardware. Not only is it the wrong color, it's the wrong style. I wanted just a simple bronze lockset, not something that looks like it belongs on a French country estate.

I have to agree about the door hardware -- those handles just look silly on a log cabin. You've made amazing progress. Everything looks great. Can't wait to see it.
