Busy long weekend! Steve and I went to my company Christmas party on Friday night at the City Club in Rock Hill. Then Saturday night was Penny and Mark's reception for PFC Tiffany Lemberger, fresh from Marine Corps boot camp. Tiff was quite resplendent in her Marine greens. We are all very proud of her!

The Lembergers had a house full of Bristolians, mostly rug rats, for the celebration. They combined the occasion with Christmas for that side of their family, so there were presents for the kids and all the accompanying chaos that one would expect from a house full of people, dogs, and kids opening gifts.
Sunday, we drove over to Bristol to visit my mom and family. Dinner, more people, more kids and more presents (although way less of each than the night before). Here's my mom with my grand-nephew (her great-grandson) Alex Bourne. Alex's father is Justin Bourne, who is the son of Kevin Bourne, a high school football hero and real hottie when I was a kid. Yeah, that makes me feel pretty old!
We left Bristol Monday morning and drove to Burnsville to check on the cabin. Nothing new since the last update; I know they've had some rainy weather up in the mountains. Hopefully, if it's dry, they'll start the log stack this week. We plan another trip up there to check progress in a couple of weeks.Monday evening was a catch-up night. We were supposed to have dinner at the Lembergers, but I'm an idiot (an easily confused idiot, to answer your question) and got the time all screwed up, which was just as well as it allowed me time to wrap presents and bake cheesecake.
Tonight, Christmas night, we had a delicious dinner at Debi and Scott's house. I took pitifully few pictures, but I did manage a shot of the Smiths' lovely tablescape. ;-) Debi made a yummy beef tenderloin and I contributed an awesome Shrimp and Grits (Tyler Florence's recipe - http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_37467,00.html).Thanks to my friends, I'm well on my way to the all-pottery dinnerware I want for the cabin. Scott made me some nice bowls and mugs, and Penny found some bowls that will work perfectly with a rustic place setting.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Dude, too funny that you took pictures of the "tablescape."
Saturday was chaos, wasn't it? I'm pretty sure anytime you have a gathering with kids it's gonna be chaos.
So your Bourne Idolatry is making you feel old??
The cabin is looking great. Can wait to see it in person.
Your shrimp & grits were AWESOME by the way. Cheesecake too. Both were quite tasty. Thanks again!
Glad you like your pottery. What's your color preference by the way? Do you have one?
Yeah, we need to make sure we stay withint wach other's color palatte if we are going to keep it going.
I just finished the last piece of cheescake last night. Scott told me I could have it and then when I whipped it out last night I could feel his daggers, but was not swayed. I enjoyed every last bite!!
What does, "Yeah, we need to make sure we stay withint wach other's color palatte if we are going to keep it going" mean?
